What if you woke up this morning and just stated, 'today is going to be a good day.?'
Believe it or not, that is actually an exceedingly difficult request of most people. On any given day we wake with our to do lists in our head shouting at us. We are adding, subtracting, prioritizing stressfully that we miss the actual moment that we woke to a sunrise, the smell of brewed cup of tea or a loved one greeting us with a start to the day.
Somewhere along the road, we got lost. Our priorities got lost. Our sense of self care disappeared, and the morning became the end all for starting our to do lists and making every second count.
Listen, in that moment you were planning, thinking, preparing, and checking things off your list...you missed it.
You missed the sun peaking over the mountain out your window making the frost glisten with a rare beauty that welcomes you. You missed the beautiful first smell of coffee brewing that allows us to wake in a delectable way. You missed the subtle smile wishing good morning from a loved one...you missed it.
When we wake in the morning, not one single one of us knows how the day will unfold. There is no certainty to how the day will end. We may lose a loved one unexpectedly by days end. We may receive news that changes the entire makeup of our future. We may find that today may have been our last day.
