Owning Our Stories
“The most dangerous stories that we make up are the narratives that diminish our inherent worthiness. We must reclaim the truth about our lovability, divinity, and creativity.” -Brene Brown
Owning our stories. What does that mean to you? Consider it for a moment. Do you honor your stories? The pieces of your life have molded who you are today. Do you speak of these stories with respect, the good and the bad?
I know many people who try to live their lives not acknowledging the steps they have walked prior. The problem is that you can see the shell of a person they are for their true and inner depth is missing. While they cannot see it, others can see the ownership of fear or lack of self-worth shining through in all that they are not saying.
Some don’t want to own their stories for they may have to then own the fear, the shame, the wounds that come from those stories. The problem here is that often those feelings are not theirs to own, rather those who inflicted certain stories upon them. It can be incredibly difficult to see that our WHOLENESS comes from the depths of our heart and hurt.
One must be able to see that it is necessary in every way to incorporate the good and the bad with each step we walk today. It allows us to take on each moment more fully than we ever have before. Those difficult stories we may have tried to disown are what will bring us more strength, courage and fight in our future paths that await us!
Do you allow yourself to embrace your flaws?
Can you see your flaws for the GIFT that they are?
